The Point Villas are located on Whakamoenga Point, an exclusive estate with full security access.
The Villas are set within 58 acres of native bushland and exotic plantings on the edge of Lake Taupo – the very heart of New Zealand’s North Island. Each private villa terrace looks out to these native forests and the changing hues and reflections of Lake Taupo’s Mine Bay. Dramatic mountain views of Ruapehu, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Pihanga can be seen across the lake from the Estate.
The Point Villas are only 10 minutes drive from the thriving township of Taupo, which means guests enjoy both complete privacy and the convenience of being close to public amenities and services. Taupo is a 3½ hour drive south from Auckland or 4½ hours north from Wellington.
Alternatively, Air New Zealand have several daily flights from either Auckland or Wellington to Taupo. Rental cars and private charter flights can also be arranged. And a helipad on the property allows for easy helicopter access. (Please let us know in advance if you plan to use this facility.)
Directions to The Point Villas — From the North
Approach Taupo via Wairakei, and follow the signs to Acacia Bay. (This is a right turn into Poihipi Road then left into Acacia Bay Road.)
Follow the long stretch of road that leads towards Acacia Bay, past the pub and local store, and straight along Wakeman Road, making no turns. Continue for another 5 minutes until you reach the Point Security Gates (proceeding past the sign which states the “road ends”).
In front of the gates is a pillar. On the left of the pillar is a punch pad. Punch in the code xxxx # (which we will provide) and the gates will swing open.
Take the lower road to the left, and turn right when you reach the T junction.
The Point Villas are at number 24, on the left, across the road from the tennis courts. There is parking for 2 cars for beside each Villa.
Directions to The Point Villas — From the South
Take the road through Taupo Township. Turn left at the roundabout, cross the bridge and turn Left up Norman Smith Street, following the signs to Acacia Bay.
