THE POINT VILLAS
Your own private corner of Lake Taupō
Some trips are simply better shared.

Stay together. Eat together. Explore together. Then come home to the lake.
A private villa changes the way you travel together
A hotel gives everyone a room.
A private villa gives you somewhere to actually spend time together.
Start the morning slowly over coffee with views across Mine Bay. Cook breakfast together in your beautifully equipped designer kitchen, complete with premium European appliances, then plan the day around the dining table, spend the afternoon on the lake and regroup around the fire or outdoor spa later that evening.
There is no need to coordinate room numbers, restaurant bookings or where everyone should meet.
At The Point Villas, the villa becomes part of the holiday.
More space to be together
Our villas have been designed around generous shared living.
Open-plan kitchens, dining and lounge spaces make it easy to gather as a group, while spacious bedrooms and private en-suites give everyone their own space when they want it.
Sliding doors connect the villas with terraces, pools and the surrounding landscape, so days naturally move between inside and out.
It is relaxed, private and wonderfully easy.
Villa One - Tatamoana
A beautifully appointed two-bedroom villa overlooking Lake Taupō’s Mine Bay.
Villa One offers two exceptionally spacious bedrooms positioned on either side of the central living area, giving couples or family members privacy without feeling disconnected from the group.
With a private outdoor spa, sauna, generous deck, open fireplace and spectacular lake views, Tatamoana is an intimate retreat for smaller groups.
Ideal for: couples travelling together, family stays and relaxed weekends with friends.
Villa Two - Ngahere
A spacious three-bedroom villa surrounded by native bush with views towards the lake.
The multi-level layout gives groups plenty of room to spread out, while the large open-plan living area, terrace, pool and outdoor dining spaces create an inviting place to come together.
Each of the three bedrooms has its own en-suite, making Villa Two particularly well suited to larger families, groups of friends and multi-generational stays.
Ideal for: larger families, friends travelling together and extended stays.
Travelling with a larger group?
Subject to availability, both villas can be reserved together, giving your group exclusive use of five beautifully appointed double bedrooms, each with an en-suite. You can enjoy the closeness of travelling together while still having the privacy and space of two separate villas.
This is Lake Taupō at its best
The Point Villas sits within 58 acres of native bush and established plantings on the edge of Lake Taupō. It feels secluded, but you are still only a short drive from Taupō township. From the estate, the landscape does much of the talking. Across the lake are views towards Ruapehu, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Pihanga, while the famous Mine Bay Māori Rock Carvings can be reached from the water.
There is something distinctly New Zealand about staying here. Native bush. Clear lake water. Birdsong. Mountains on the horizon. Long afternoons outside. A barbecue going. Somewhere to swim. Somewhere to explore.
For international visitors, it is a chance to experience an extraordinary part of New Zealand away from the usual hotel setting. For Kiwis, it feels like the ultimate version of a classic Taupō escape.
The kind of place where the days fill themselves
Even without a planned itinerary, you will find plenty to keep you entertained at The Point Villas. You can spend your days actively kayaking from the private beach, walking through native bush, playing on the floodlit tennis courts, or enjoying a casual game of pétanque and croquet. If you prefer the water, you can swim, fish from the lake edge, or take a boat out. Alternatively, you can simply find a quiet spot overlooking Lake Taupō and do nothing at all.
The Point estate includes:
- Private beaches
- Kayaks and life jackets
- Two all-weather floodlit tennis courts
- Pétanque
- Croquet lawn
- Bushwalking trails
- Jetty and boat ramp harbours
- Lake-edge fly fishing
- Swimming pools and outdoor spas
- Private helipad access
For groups, it means everyone can do their own thing without having to travel far to find it.

PROUD MEMBER OF
Adventure when you want it. Nothing when you don't.
One of the best parts of a group holiday is that not everybody needs to want the same thing. Some mornings might begin with golf or fly fishing.
Others might involve kayaking across Mine Bay, boating, swimming or walking.
You might head into Taupō for lunch, explore the wider region, organise a helicopter experience or spend the entire day at the villa. And if half the group wants adventure while the other half wants a pool, a book and nowhere to be, that works too. That flexibility is part of what makes a private villa such a good fit for group travel.
